This October, our Dumfries House Education team is bringing a frightfully fun twist to learning with a series of Hallowe’en-themed workshops for primary school pupils.
In STEM, pupils can explore ‘Wild Bodies’, discovering the similarities and differences between humans and some of Scotland’s wild creatures before designing their own marvellous monsters. Full-day groups can also venture outdoors for our Spooky Trail, a Hallowe’en treasure hunt through the woods under the shadow of Dumfries House.
In the Education Garden, Veg Patch Vampires bring the spooky side of food and gardening to life, with stories, seasonal growing and practical activities. Pair this with ‘Witches’ Potions’ in the STEM Centre for a full day of fizzing reactions, bubbling brews and a spectacular science showstopper.
On the Farm, pupils can enjoy ‘Farmyard Frights and Scarecrow Delights’, where they’ll meet our animals, join a scavenger hunt and bring their very own scarecrow to life.
Workshops are available as half-day or full-day sessions, and costumes are warmly encouraged. Each experience combines curriculum-linked learning with seasonal fun, making this October the perfect time to join us at Dumfries House.
