STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths
See how we support primary and secondary school pupils to develop their knowledge and skills in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths).
About our programmes
Our STEM curriculum offers workshops and longer programmes for 5–18-year-olds, in some of the exciting STEM opportunities on the Dumfries House Estate and within the wider world of industry.
We offer STEM workshops and longer programmes on four key themes: aerospace, green energy, environmental science and sustainable design, as well as delving into the science behind other King’s Foundation curriculum areas with STEM on the farm, STEM in the garden, STEM in hospitality and STEM in textiles, through our cross-curricular programme.
Primary and Secondary School Visits
Learners taking part in the STEM programme at Dumfries House can take part in half or full day workshops designed to support them on their journey towards STEM careers and skills.
Events and Public Programmes
The STEM team host a number of public events throughout the year, giving local communities a chance to get involved with science, technology, engineering and maths innovation in their local area.
Multi-day Primary and Secondary Programmes
The STEM programme offers various multi-day programmes for primary and secondary learners that explore our key themes in more detail.
