The CHANEL, le19M and The King’s Foundation Métiers d’Art Fellowships Exhibition opens at The Garrison Chapel

The Métiers d’Art Fellowships Exhibition has opened at The Garrison Chapel, celebrating three years of partnership between The King’s Foundation, CHANEL and le19M.

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester visited the exhibition to see the work created by the students. The Duchess has been a great supporter of the Fellowships and has worn handcrafted pieces created by King’s Foundation graduates to events including Royal Ascot.

The exhibition, which is open from 11th until 24th September, celebrates the work of recent graduates from the three Métiers d’Art Fellowships, bringing together the Embroidery, Millinery and Fashion Production Atelier graduate collections. The exhibition showcases the exceptional artisan skills, creativity and craftsmanship developed by the Fellows, as well as their individual interpretations of British heritage.

In 2023, CHANEL and The King’s Foundation developed a Metiers d’Art education partnership with Le19M, aimed at postgraduate students.  The three intensive residential programmes now include the Embroidery and Millinery Fellowships based at the CHANEL Métiers d’Art Training Atelier at Highgrove, and the Fashion Production Atelier Fellowship based at Dumfries House.

Supported and inspired by the vision of His Majesty The King and The King’s Foundation, these programmes combine excellence, tradition and innovation, offering Fellows the opportunity to expand and refine their technique, ready to contribute to the future of the fashion industry.

The fellowship programmes are delivered by expert artisans and tutors at The King’s Foundation, with mentorship from le19M and CHANEL. Students benefit from hands-on training and guidance from artisans at Maison Lesage, Atelier Montex, Lemarié, Maison Michel and Paloma in Paris, drawing on the exceptional savoir-faire of le19M.

To date, 48 students have graduated from these fellowship programmes. We are delighted to present the work of recent graduates whose inspiration is drawn from the gardens at Highgrove as well as the Royal Collection Trust’s exhibition Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style at The King’s Gallery.
