The King’s Foundation and Amazon MGM Studios celebrate the culmination of the inaugural Costume Craft Programme
The King’s Foundation, in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, marked the successful culmination of the first-ever Costume Craft Programme, designed to nurture the next generation of sustainable costume makers for TV and film.
The end of the programme was celebrated at a special showcase at Trinity Buoy Wharf, The King’s Foundation’s education studios on the River Thames.

The partnership between The King’s Foundation and Amazon MGM Studios follows the
landmark documentary Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision which launched on Prime Video in February this year, showcasing The King’s life as an environmentalist through the lens of The King’s Foundation’s work.
Bringing together eight emerging costume talents from across the UK, the Costume Craft programme has provided intensive, hands-on training in traditional and contemporary costume making techniques. Participants developed original costume designs inspired by major productions including The Rig and My Lady Jane, combining historical research with innovative storytelling and craftsmanship.

Throughout the programme, students honed a wide range of specialist skills from tailoring, embroidery, and leatherwork to natural dyeing and textile manipulation, while responding to professional briefs reflective of real-world film and television production environments. The students also undertook placements on Amazon MGM Studios productions to provide hands-on experience in a professional setting. The final showcase presents an ambitious and diverse body of work.
The initiative reflects a shared commitment between The King’s Foundation and Amazon MGM Studios to invest in sustainable skills development, preserve heritage crafts, and create pathways into the creative industries.
“The Costume Craft Programme represents the best of what can be achieved when sustainable and heritage skills meet contemporary storytelling.
