The King’s Foundation at Dumfries House offers an industry standard textile training programme as part of the Future Textiles initiative. We have a track record of providing training for the industry from foundation level sewing skills to luxury artisan skills.
This programme focuses on the essential sewing and production skills required to support local and UK manufacturers in the making of quality products. The programme lasts for 6 weeks including an insight and introduction to the manufacturing workplace.
This programme will cover the key practice skills as well as the soft core skills needed to succeed in further training or employment.
Intensive skills specific training programme in sewing:
- Understanding and training of the production speed required for financial viability
- Insight to the local and national industry
- Five weeks in-house training
- Opportunity for a one-week work placement
- Employability development
Participants will build a portfolio of techniques, gain confidence using an industrial sewing machine and learn how to work as a team with production skills.
What we offer:

- DWP clients who would like to find employability in the Fashion and Textiles industry.
- School or college leavers interested in getting into the Fashion and Textiles industry.
- Adults of any age (18+) who are looking to career change.
