Wonderful Weave Workshop – Secondary Stage – Full Day Workshop – 10am – 3pm

In this hands-on workshop, participants will be guided to design and weave their own fabric using soft wool yarns inspired by the rich seasonal palette of the walled garden. Using a simple wrapped board technique, they will learn the fundamentals of weaving through the creation of a herringbone pattern and explore weaving with scrap fabrics.

Wednesday and Friday

Creative Embroidery Workshop – Secondary Stage – Full Day Workshop – 10am – 3pm

Pupils will embark on a creative embroidery adventure! They’ll learn how to prepare fabrics and explore the essential tools needed for embroidery. With the inspiration of nature all around, they’ll master a variety of stitches, including running stitch, backstitch, chain stitch, and the charming French knot. Each pupil will have the chance to bring their creativity to life by crafting their own beautiful, embroidered design to take home.

Thursday

Our school education workshops support the delivery of The Curriculum for Excellence, and many of our activities are based outdoors on our 2000 acre estate, making use of our natural spaces to inspire learning. The King’s Foundation works in harmony with the natural world, and as such our workshops also touch upon the UN Sustainable Development goals and support learning for sustainability.

Please note: This workshop takes place in our Atelier, which is on the top floor of Dumfries House, and is accessed via 89 steps. We do not have an elevator.
