Farm/Outdoor Learning Split Centre workshop – Primary to Early Secondary – 10am – 2pm
Step into the heart of the outdoors with our Farm and Outdoor Centre workshop, where learning meets adventure! This hands-on experience combines Homes for Hooves and Feathers and Shelter Building, giving pupils from early primary to early secondary stages the chance to explore animal welfare, survival skills, and practical problem-solving in a real-world setting. Students will investigate how different animals stay safe, warm, and healthy while discovering the essentials of good shelter and housing, then put their knowledge into action by building their own shelters in the woods. Along the way, they’ll practice teamwork, resilience, and creative thinking, connecting classroom learning in science, sustainability, and outdoor education with the rich, living environment of the Estate. Through interactive challenges and cross-curricular activities, this workshop encourages curiosity, confidence, and a lasting connection with nature.
Our school education workshops support the delivery of The Curriculum for Excellence, and many of our activities are based outdoors on our 2000 acre estate, making use of our natural spaces to inspire learning. The King’s Foundation works in harmony with the natural world, and as such our workshops also touch upon the UN Sustainable Development goals and support learning for sustainability.
