Highgrove launches limited edition collection of handmade visors created by recent millinery graduate, Emily Hurst

August 26, 2025

Highgrove has released a new limited edition series of visors created by King’s Foundation graduate, Emily Hurst.

The limited edited, handmade visors are available to buy on the Highgrove website and in the Highgrove Shop on the Gloucestershire estate.

Emily recently completed the CHANEL and The King’s Foundation Millinery Fellowship in partnership with Le19m, which takes place at Highgrove. Her work specialises in the traditional craft of using straw to produce hats, both preserving and modernising these techniques.

Earlier this year, Emily was named Emerging Talent at our annual King’s Foundation Awards, and confirmed as the first recipient of a new bursary provided by Ascot Racecourse to help establish her own business.

“I’m so thrilled that my collection of visors will be on sale through the Highgrove Shop – it is a real full circle moment for me, given this is where I studied with The King’s Foundation. Living and studying at Highgrove was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The gardens of Highgrove estate have served as a constant source of inspiration, and the ethos of The King’s Foundation has really put a highlight on sustainability within all of our practices, and that is something that is very important to me personally.”

“At Highgrove and The King’s Foundation we focus on traditional craft, sustainability, and taking inspiration from the gardens – which is exactly what Emily’s beautiful visors represent. We are delighted to be supporting our graduates in this way and hope to continue to do so in the future, so visitors to Highgrove can see and understand the work of The King’s Foundation to promote traditional craft and artisans.”

Scott Simpson, Retail Director at The King’s Foundation

“It’s a pleasure to have Emily working on this professional commission and will be such a really gratifying moment to see the visors on sale at the Highgrove Shop. Our first cohort of milliners, who graduated in May, are so talented and a credit to The King’s Foundation and our training partners CHANEL and Le19m, so I can’t wait to see what they do next.”
