STEM – Educator Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

We are committed to delivering high-quality and effective CPD opportunities to practitioners either through our own courses or through our work with partnering STEM education providers

The King’s Foundation STEM team offer various CPD to educators and industry throughout the year, please see below for examples of our courses, many of which are run on request.

Example CPD

School Coding Club: (Primary educators) Have you ever wanted to set up a coding club at school, but lacked the confidence to go for it. Let our STEM team support you through the first term of your new club giving you the tools and confidence you need to carry on the club yourselves after the term ends. The King’s Foundation will deliver 5 sessions of your Coding Club with you, followed up by teacher support and training, to empower you to take over at the end of the course.

Industry Insights: (Secondary educators) Find out about the jobs available in industries in the South West of Scotland, through a combination of site visits, online panel discussions and in person presentations throughout the academic year. Keep yourself up to date with opportunities to enable you to offer the best career advice to your pupils.

Industry Engagement: (STEM Industry Practitioners) Have you ever been asked to prepare an activity for a careers fair, run a short activity or deliver a full day’s workshop for a school or public audience? Do you want to know how to design and deliver an activity that is engaging, and informative all at the same time? Well, let our experts help you do just that. Our education team at The King’s Foundation deliver award winning school and public programmes to everyone from 4 to 94 years old.

  • Tuesday 5th August – Workshop Creation. Day one of this workshop covers the theory aspects of public engagement, looking at different learning styles and how to strike the balance between information and fun.
  • Wednesday 6th August – Workshop Delivery. We’ll support you to create or further develop your own engagement activities, ensuring the next time you’re asked to work with members of your local community you are ready to deliver with confidence.

This workshop is priced at £75 per person per day, and runs from 10am until 3pm each day. Customers are free to book one or both days of this course, depending on individual learning needs.
