STEM – Educator Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

We are committed to delivering high-quality and effective CPD opportunities to practitioners either through our own courses or through our work with partnering STEM education providers

The King’s Foundation STEM team offer various CPD to educators and industry throughout the year, please see below for examples of our courses, many of which are run on request.

Example CPD

School Coding Club: (Primary educators) Have you ever wanted to set up a coding club at school, but lacked the confidence to go for it. Let our STEM team support you through the first term of your new club giving you the tools and confidence you need to carry on the club yourselves after the term ends. The King’s Foundation will deliver 5 sessions of your Coding Club with you, followed up by teacher support and training, to empower you to take over at the end of the course.

Industry Insights: (Secondary educators) Find out about the jobs available in industries in the South West of Scotland, through a combination of site visits, online panel discussions and in person presentations throughout the academic year. Keep yourself up to date with opportunities to enable you to offer the best career advice to your pupils.

STEM Outreach CPD for Industry Engagement: Do you get involved with STEM and public engagement on behalf of your organisation? Would you like to gain confidence, skills and knowledge that support you in making your activities engaging and effective? The Education team at The King’s Foundation delivers award-winning school and public programmes to children, teenagers, and adults. Through our CPD training we share our skills and experience to help you design and deliver impactful STEM activities, to ensure that the next time you are asked to work with members of your local community you are ready to go with confidence. We have spaces available on the following day courses:

  • Day 1 – STEM Design – This training day focuses on the development of STEM activities covering some of the theory aspects of public engagement, looking at different learning styles and how to strike the balance between information and fun. You’ll also be supported to design or develop further your own engagement activities.
  • Day 2 – STEM Delivery – Standing in front of a group of young learners can be intimidating, but when you have the tools, it can be the most rewarding environment. With a mixture of theory and hands on tasks, this training day aims to give you those tools to help you engage and manage your audience, enabling your outreach to have the positive impact you aim for.

“Key questions, lesson plans, helps you get your ideas down and think about the bigger picture” Paula Irvine, Scottish Power

Our STEM Outreach CPD for Industry Engagement will run on 21st and 28th of April 2026, from 10am until 4pm each day. This 2-day workshop is priced at £120 per person.
