Join us on Valentin’s Farm this Winter session, where we have a range of workshops available, working with pupils right through Primary school and into early Secondary stage. See below for further information on our Farm to Fork, Canny Consumers and Woolly Workshop. Each workshop will be tweaked to suit the age and stage of your pupils.

Our school education workshops support the delivery of The Curriculum For Excellence, and many of our activities are based outdoors on our 2000 acre estate, making use of our natural spaces to inspire learning. The King’s Foundation works in harmony with the natural world, and as such our workshops also touch upon the UN Sustainable Development goals and support learning for sustainability.

Farm to Fork: Learners will embark on a farm tour to meet all of our animals, with particular focus on the journey of our food.

Canny Consumers: Learners will again have the opportunity to meet our animals, before delving deeper into what goes into the production processes of different foods. Students will learn about what the labelling on our food packaging really means while exploring the impact of different farming practices on both people and the planet.

Woolly Workshop: With a focus on our sheep, learners will discover different facts about our beautiful rare breeds flock and the wool they produce. Pupils will enjoy experimenting with wool in a variety of forms and try out different design techniques using wool.

Timings

Primary school workshops run from 10am until 2pm each day, with the exception of the Canny Consumers which is a full day workshop for Secondary stage but a half day workshop for Primary, which runs from 10 until 12pm. Schools choosing this half day workshop are free to use the other public spaces on the Estate for the rest of the afternoon before returning to school
